Le Taha’a is one of the most premier and secluded resorts I’ve ever visited. With a premium experience comes a premium price, but fortunately, it’s possible to receive a great deal on packages to Le Taha’a.
Cost
Le Taha’a is a luxury resort with a premium experience and price to match. Generally speaking, you should expect to spend approximately $1,000 to $1,500 USD per day depending on the season and room type.
A May 2024 6 day trip to Le Taha’a booked through Costco Travel for 2 people costed approximately $12,000 USD including flights, an overnight hotel in Papeete, the Le Taha’a resort accommodation, and food & drink.
Should I Just Visit Le Taha’a?
The majority of travelers that visit Le Taha’a also visit another island in French Polynesia on the same trip. Because French Polynesia is a once-in-a-lifetime destination due to its isolation and cost, it’s a great idea to use the opportunity to visit both Le Taha’a and another island.
Common destinations to combine with Le Taha’a include Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora.
Combining Le Taha’a with Bora Bora
Bora Bora is one of the best options to pair with Le Taha’a on a single trip due to its proximity to the island of Taha’a and its unique offerings. The lagoon of Bora Bora is legendary, and in my opinion, much more breathtaking than the other islands. Le Taha’a is owned by a smaller chain named Pearl Resorts, but combining a visit here with a big-name resort in Bora Bora (such as the Intercontinental Bora Bora or St. Regis Bora Bora) makes for an incredible luxury trip.

Tips for Booking with Costco
For visitors from the United States, Costco has great deals on packages to Le Taha’a. As of May 2024, Costco offers several packages that include Le Taha’a and visits to other islands in French Polynesia. For most people booking a once-in-a-lifetime trip such as a honeymoon, thee packages provide great value and convenience.
Advantages to Booking with Costco
Booking a stay at the luxurious Le Taha’a Resort through Costco Travel is a seamless and convenient process, especially when considering the complexities of inter-island travel in French Polynesia. One of the standout benefits of booking through Costco is that they include both international and inter-island flights in their packages. This means you don’t have to worry about coordinating separate flights to get from Tahiti to Taha’a. Additionally, Costco handles all necessary boat transfers, which is a significant advantage given that many resorts, including Le Taha’a, are located on private motus or require boat transfers from the nearest airport. This comprehensive approach ensures that your journey is hassle-free from start to finish.
Moreover, Costco Travel offers exclusive rates with hotels, which can lead to substantial savings. On my recent trip to Taha’a in May 2024, I found that booking through Costco effectively made all my flights free. The price difference between booking directly with the resort and booking through Costco matched the cost of the international flights alone. This kind of value is hard to beat and adds to the overall appeal of using Costco Travel for such a trip. Additionally, upon arrival in Papeete, a tour operator meets you to provide any necessary documents or tickets, ensuring a smooth transition to your final destination. This level of service and attention to detail makes Costco Travel an excellent choice for booking your stay at Le Taha’a Resort.
If you are an Executive member with Costco, you also get a 2% cashback reward. On a trip that can cost upwards of $10,000 USD, this is also a substantial amount. If you are not an Executive member but intend to purchase a travel package with Costco, it’s almost certainly more beneficial to upgrade your membership prior to booking your travel since the 2% reward will easily cover the cost difference between the membership tiers.

Booking Directly
Unless you are a well seasoned traveler, I recommend using a travel agent to book a trip to Le Taha’a due to the complexity of the transfers. Either a large travel agent like Costco Travel or an independent agent will be able to arrange the numerous plane and boat transfers required to get here.
If you’re looking to book yourself, you will need to ensure you book all of the following items just to get to and from the resort:
- An international flight from your home airport to the island of Tahiti and the Papeete airport (PPT)
- An inter-island transfer flight, either on Air Tahiti or Air Moana, from PPT to the island of Raiatea
- Coordinate a boat transfer with the Le Taha’a resort from the Raiatea Airport to the resort
Because Le Taha’a is on a private motu and the island of Taha’a itself does not have an airport, you will need to fly into Raiatea and take a private boat to the resort. The island of Raiatea is only 4 km from Taha’a and shares a lagoon, so the boat transfer only takes about 40 minutes.
You may also need to book an overnight hotel in Papeete, depending on when your international flight arrives. For example, many flights from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Papeete arrive late at night (9 PM or later), and there are no inter-island flights until the next day.
